Hello, my name is Shahan Bellamy. I am a graduate student under the direction of Dr. Marlon M. Bailey in the Women and Gender Studies Program in the School of Social Transformation at Arizona State University. I am conducting a research study to understand how Black transmen construct and express masculinity on Tumblr and in the real world.
As part of this study, I will be observing and interviewing Black transmen who use Tumblr to help express their masculinity.
I am recruiting individuals who identify as Black American transmen and who are over the age 18.

With your permission, I would like to observe and interview you for a period lasting 1-8 weeks. Each interview is designed to last approximately 2-3 hours and will be video and audio recorded with the participant’s permission. Interviews will include questions about transitioning, masculine gender expression, and your use of Tumblr.
Your participation is completely voluntary and you may exit the study at any time. If you have any questions or would like to participate in the research, I can be reached at shahan.bellamy@asu.edu.
